Activity Rating Jackets may have two weather ratings: a "low activity" rating and a "moderate activity" rating. Sitting, resting, or standing in place would be considered low activity. Walking, jogging, climbing, etc., are moderate activities. The more active you are, the more body heat you're generating, which gives your garment more heat to retain, keeping you warmer.
5K/5K Rating The first number identifies the water-resistance of the fabric - a 5K rating means that a jacket's fabric can withstand 5,000 millimeters (almost 17 feet) of rain in 24 hours before its wearer gets wet. The second number is the breath-ability rating of the material (5,000 g/m2). Microscopic pores in the breathable fabric allow steam and sweat vapors to escape to prevent overheating, while still keeping you warm.
