What is StormRepel® Technology by Eddie Bauer?

Engineered to repel moisture, our StormRepel® DWR (durable water repellent) finish ensures that our outerwear performs at its peak—even in the harshest conditions.

The StormRepel® DWR treatment applied to your Eddie Bauer apparel encourages moisture to bead up on the surface and effortlessly slide off instead of penetrating into the fabric. Our men’s & women’s rainwear collections feature two grades of StormRepel®. Our standard StormRepel® DWR which provides exceptional protection and our extra durable and long-lasting StormRepel® DWR PRO. So, whether you’re scaling a peak or trekking through a rain-soaked forest, you can trust Eddie Bauer’s StormRepel® technology to help keep you comfortable and focused on the journey ahead.

How to Care for Your Waterproof Outerwear featuring StormRepel® DWR

Caring for your Eddie Bauer outerwear is essential to maintaining its performance and prolonging its lifespan. Each garment comes with its own set of care instructions which are tailored to its style. You can locate these guidelines on the care label stitched into the interior side seam of the garment. Additional instructions are conveniently provided on the product page where the garment is sold.

To keep your gear in peak condition, we recommend washing it with a mild detergent specifically formulated for technical fabrics. Avoid using fabric softeners or bleach, as these can degrade the water-repellent finish. After washing, tumble dry on low heat to reactivate the DWR finish. With proper care, your Eddie Bauer outerwear will continue to shield you from the elements, allowing you to embrace every adventure with confidence.

How to Reapply the DWR Finish

To maintain the water-repellent properties of your Eddie Bauer waterproof outerwear, you can reapply the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish periodically. Here’s how you can do it:

Clean the Outerwear: Before applying a new DWR finish, ensure that your hiking or camping outerwear is clean. Wash it with a mild detergent specifically formulated for technical fabrics and avoid using fabric softeners or bleach.

Choose a DWR Replenishing Product: There are various DWR replenishing products available in outdoor gear and apparel stores as well as dry cleaners. Look for one that is compatible with your outerwear fabric and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Apply the DWR Treatment: Carefully follow the instructions provided with the DWR replenishing product. Typically, you’ll spray or wash the product onto the outer surface of your garment. Make sure to cover the entire surface of the outerwear evenly.

Activate the DWR Finish: After applying the DWR treatment, activate it by tumble drying the garment on low.

Check for Effectiveness: Once the outerwear is dry, test the effectiveness of the DWR finish by sprinkling water on its surface. If the water beads up and rolls off, the DWR treatment has been successfully reapplied.

By periodically reapplying the DWR finish, you can ensure that your Eddie Bauer waterproof hiking outerwear continues to provide reliable protection against the elements, keeping you dry and comfortable during your outdoor adventures.
